Our Story
The inspiration behind BLACK APP emerged from growing concerns about premeditated crimes, disappearances, kidnappings, assaults, and other security threats that occur when victims' whereabouts are unknown or difficult to trace.
The Catalyst: The Timothy Adegoke Incident
One of the incidents that significantly influenced the development of BLACK APP was the tragic case of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Nigeria. In November 2021, Timothy Adegoke disappeared while lodged at Hilton Honors Hotel in Osun State, Nigeria. Following investigations, it was discovered that he had been murdered, and his remains were later recovered.
The incident attracted national attention and highlighted the vulnerability of individuals who travel, lodge in hotels, or meet unfamiliar persons without any reliable system documenting their movements or providing automatic alerts when something goes wrong.
The case underscored a critical gap in personal safety and accountability. In many situations, victims are unable to contact family members or emergency services during an incident, leaving loved ones unaware of their whereabouts and delaying investigations.
Motivated by the need to provide an additional layer of protection, Mifabeck Digital developed BLACK APP—an intelligent personal safety and security backup system designed to record essential travel, visit, and lodging information, securely preserve evidence, monitor user welfare, and automatically notify trusted contacts if a user becomes unresponsive or signals distress.
Our goal is simple: to use technology as a proactive tool for personal safety, helping individuals protect themselves while creating greater accountability and deterrence against criminal activity.
